I don't know why I ever watch the golden globes awards. It is the foreign press giving awards to the least redeemable movies out there. This year they did again with numerous awards going to BrokeBack Mountain. It has not done so well at the box office as other redeemable movies. Right now Glory Road, PG rated movie is number 1 movie at the box office right now along side this piece of leftist agenda. Most people I know that like cowboy movies don't want to see 2 cowboys going at it. I know that there are plenty of gay men out there but I don't want to watch them on the big screen. Since the homosexuals only make up maybe 1% of the population, why are the other 99% letting the left tell us how to run the country ? Gay is not a race.
What do you think about this movie?

Right on, sister!
And I'm sure that homosexuals don't want to see two straight people going at it on the big screen either!
But it is rather frustrating that the news media and entertainment industry are comprised mostly of lefties, or at least their powers-that-be-are surely on the left, and surely pushing their agenda(s). It makes me feel like a conspiracy theorist to say that, but I've started to see evidence of that more and more.
I have not seen Brokeback Mountain, but it does look like a beautiful movie, well-made, great scenery, a tear-jerker. My opinion on homosexuality is that it is not the original intention, it is not best, and it is not an identity that should not become mainstream. I also believe that it is a a very complicated issue that should be treated with much more sensitivity from the Christian community. There is too much hostility both ways, and that saddens me, and makes me angry.
For more information about the agenda pushing, I recommend these books: Bernard Goldberg's "Bias" and John Stossel's "Gimme a Break." Stossel spends a chapter or two on it, and it is very enlightening. And he is not a Republican, so he's not pushing the Republican agenda (I believe he's more along the Libertarian lines). I have to say, I'd like to read "What Liberal Media? The Truth About Bias and the News by Eric Alterman" for the rebuttal. Always good to balance things out. We all have biases.

Are movies which depict criminals getting away with crime ever called, biased or pushing an agenda? I heard an interview with Ang Lee, the director of Brokeback Mountain, and he said that he never expected this movie to get much attention. He did say something about how he hopes people can learn to understand homosexuals. Certainly, any movie which portrays a world view that is different from yours will be considered to be pushing an agenda.
Many Christians see homosexuality as a moral issue. They believe that certain things are "wrong" and always will be "wrong." They put gay sex in the same category as fornication and will never be persuaded that it is anything, but a sin. If you say you hate the sin, but love the sinner, you give no comfort to that sinner. Any attempt at kindness toward gays could possibly be taken as patronizing.
As long as Christians (and others) believe in moral absolutes, there will be a rift between them and homosexuals. I believe that what different cultures see as right or wrong has changed slowly over the centuries and is not based on any absolutes, but based on what works and what leaders think is best for their people.
I personally do not understand how one man can want to have sex with another man, but if two men choose to do so (or who women), it has no affect on me. Why should I want to keep them from doing what makes them happy?
